Living now abroad but own property in Switzerland?

Selling an apartment when you live several hundred or even several thousand kilometres away can quickly become complicated.

That was the situation faced by the owner of a 4.5-room apartment located in Wendt, Geneva. Already living abroad, she no longer wished to keep her property in Switzerland and needed to sell it quickly, without having to make multiple trips back to the country.

It all starts with an online valuation

From abroad, the owner visited Swifthome.ch and entered the details of her apartment using our online valuation form.

After assessing the property and arranging access to the apartment through someone close to the owner, Swifthome sent her a purchase offer directly—with no need to find a third-party buyer and no brokerage commission.

An offer she chose to accept. A sale without repeated viewings

A traditional sale would have involved coordinating viewings, communicating with multiple parties and potentially travelling back to Switzerland several times.

In this case, because Swifthome was the direct buyer, there was no need to put the property on the market or search for a purchaser. Once the offer was accepted, the necessary steps could be arranged so that the owner could complete the sale from abroad.

A transaction managed entirely remotely

What makes this acquisition particularly noteworthy is that we never met the owner in person. All communication, document exchanges and coordination throughout the process were handled remotely, primarily by email.

Even for the signing of the deed of sale, arrangements were made for her to be represented at the notary’s office. There was therefore no need to book a flight or organise a trip to Geneva simply to finalise the transaction.

Sell your property and move on with peace of mind

Moving abroad, a change in professional or family circumstances, or simply no longer wanting to manage a property from a distance—some situations call for a real estate solution that is both simple and fast.

For this owner, the goal was to sell her apartment without allowing the property to become a burden while living abroad.

Just a few steps later, the sale was complete. She was free to continue her new life abroad, without ever having to return to Switzerland.
